This 12 Gauge shotshell by Rio is loaded with #1 buckshot. Most people have only heard of 00 buck, which is only 0.03” wider in diameter than #1 buck. Its smaller buckshot is the reason why this shell holds 12 pellets instead of just nine. Smaller shot pellets are naturally going to carry less momentum in flight and exert less energy on impact. #1 buck is still positively devastating within ranges up to several dozen yards, of course.
